Celebrating cultural heritage and artistry has long been a core pillar of CARAVANA, all the way back to our origins. This summer, within Scorpios Mykonos, new media artist Refik Anadol in collaboration with artists from the Yawanawá communities of Aldeia Sagrada and Nova Esperança from the Brazilian Amazon, unveiled a truly stunning collection of NFT art that incorporated traditional Yawanawá songs, artwork, and live weather data from Aldeia Sagrada, the most secluded Yawanawá village.
This collection of artwork was commissioned by Impact One to highlight the beauty of the Yawanawá culture. This rare collection of digital art took shape as a 1000-piece Genesis NFT collection that was minted and dropped during the Scorpios Encounters Program, with 80% of the proceeds going directly to the Yawanawá community in supporting long-term programs to protect Yawanawá lands and its cultural heritage.
Chiefs Nixiwaka and Isku Kua, alongside other members of their community, performed a profoundly moving concert within Scorpios Mykonos that opened our hearts to the power, wisdom, and beauty of indigenous heritage that brings us closer to the spirit of nature and one another.
CARAVANA had the privilege of dressing these members of the Yawanawá community, connecting with them to celebrate craftsmanship, nature, and a future that allows both planet and people to flourish.
The voices and wisdom of indigenous people across the globe are vital in the collective hope for a tomorrow that is green, unites us, and celebrates diversity. CARAVANA will forever hold reverence for their wisdom and be an ally in upholding beautiful cultural traditions and artistry.
